I have a client that wants more than 16 cameras and looking around at alternate solutions to using 2x 16 channel Kalatel DVRS. This feature allows continuous recording to occur while not using a lot of hard drive space, but provides better video rates when needed.

The reason for some of your problems might be caused by the VIA chipset, wich is not recommended to use with most DVR cards.
